On April 15, 2013, the National Center for Learning Disabilities will celebrate its 36th Anniversary and host its Annual Benefit Dinner. This, the largest benefit event in the nation which supports individuals with learning disabilities, will be held at the Mandarin Oriental on Columbus Circle in New York City for the second year in a row. This year, we are delighted to honor Ford Motor Company, and the extraordinary leadership of Bill Ford, Jr., with the Distinguished Leadership Award. NCLD Chairman Emerita, Anne Ford, will present the award for the company’s support of individuals with disabilities through its FEDA program (Ford Employees Dealing with disAbilities). We are also thrilled to honor Quinn Bradlee, founder and CEO of FriendsofQuinn.com, with the Young Leader Award to celebrate his extraordinary outreach to young people with LD. Barbara Walters will present the award to Quinn. We are pleased that Paula Zahn will return as this year’s Benefit Emcee.
Sigourney Weaver and Anne Ford will also recognize two very deserving young adults with our Anne Ford and Allegra Ford Thomas Scholarships.
Support for the Annual Benefit directly helps NCLD to achieve its mission to improve the lives of all people with learning disabilities. NCLD works to achieve this by empowering young adults to become effective self-advocates, through advocating policy that impacts those who struggle to learn, and by developing and delivering needed resources and information to parents and education professionals nationwide.
