Practice Questions for Your Job Interview
A job interview can be a stressful event. There are, however, ways that you can prepare yourself for the experience.
Use this downloadable worksheet to think about – and to write down – your answers to typical job interview questions. You might also try role-playing with a family member or friend. You’ll find that when you train for it ahead of time, you’ll be less nervous and more confident during the actual interview, especially if your learning disability impacts your communication skills.
In general, job interviews will cover the following areas:
- Your personal qualities – strengths and weaknesses and whether you prefer to work as part of a team or independently
- Your work history and skills – what kinds of experiences have you had and how might they have prepared you for this new job
- Why you’re interested in this particular job and at this particular company or organization
Remember, it’s not only about whether or not the employer sees you as the right person for the job – you also need to believe that the job and the company are a good fit for your needs and goals.
