Under No Child Left Behind (NCLB), public school students throughout the country must participate in annual testing in specific academic areas and grades, including students with disabilities. Requiring the inclusion of all students with disabilities in state- and district-wide assessments helps ensure that schools, school districts, and states are held accountable for the achievement of these students.

Determining Appropriate Assessment Accommodations for Students with Disabilities provides an overview of appropriate accommodations for students with IEPs or 504 Plans. Use this publication as a guide to learn how to work with the school to choose accommodations for your child. This publication will also provide you with some questions you can ask the school when making appropriate Glossary Link accommodation decisions.
