LD Champions
Having a learning disability does not limit a person's ability to be expressive or creative.  Each month, LD News spotlights the work of a person with LD and features their art, essays, or other expressions of what life is like for individuals with LD.

This month, meet the winner of the 2008 Anne Ford Scholarship Award, Lenora "Lenny" Somervell of Brasstown, NC.  In high school, Lenny admits to having felt "stupid, defective, and doomed to failure."  But through hard work and perseverance, and with encouragement from her parents and the help of a special education teacher, find out how Lenny has excelled and hopes to one day improve the lives of individuals with LD.
