Associate Executive Director, External Relations
Kit Nugent is the associate executive director of external relations at the National Center for Learning Disabilities (NCLD). Since joining NCLD in 1999, she has directed the development of the organization’s fundraising efforts as well as corporate and private partnerships. Her passion as a champion for children and adults with learning disabilities comes from her past experience as a student teacher for children with learning disabilities, while at Providence College in Providence Rhode I sl and. At NCLD Ms. Nugent has developed partnerships with major foundations and corporations including the W.K. Kellogg Foundation, Cisco Systems Foundation, the Oak Foundation, the Goizueta Foundation, Target Corporation, and Pearson Education. She has also played a leadership role in developing such major NCLD programs as Get Ready to Read!, as well as NCLD’s online communications program.
Ms. Nugent has been a professional fundraiser for over 14 years. Past work experience includes fundraising at Seton Hall University. And over 10 years in marketing, , strategic and media planning for companies including Altschiller, Ritzfeld Davis-Tracey Locke and Warwick Advertising. Her client base included American Home Products, Sterling Drugs, Liz Claiborne, Georgia Pacific, and Jockey International, as well as other Fortune 500 corporations. Ms. Nugent is a board member of the Andhow Theater Company and past board member of the ARC Morristown, New Jersey. She is a graduate of Providence College and has matriculated credits towards her Masters in Business from Seton Hall University.
