Dear NCLD Supporters and Constituents,

Again this year, NCLD brings in the holiday season with an exciting opportunity for high school seniors who have a learning disability (LD).  For the fifth consecutive year, NCLD will offer the Anne Ford Scholarship, a $10,000 award (over four years) to go towards the pursuit of a college degree.  The award was established in recognition of Anne Ford, NCLD’s Chairman Emeritus, who knows how important it is to provide students with LD opportunities to achieve success.

The Anne Ford Scholarship honors students who have overcome obstacles related to their learning disability and who have demonstrated perseverance and academic excellence in the face of these challenges.  For more detailed information about the qualifications for the Anne Ford Scholarship and to download an application, please refer to our Web site at http://www.ld.org/awards/afscholarinfo.cfm .  Also, feel free to email This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it with any scholarship-related questions.

We are particularly proud of this program, as it offers hope and opportunity for a student with LD to realize his or her academic and life goals.  The scholarship has truly taken on a life of its own, yielding a highly competitive and qualified applicant pool each year -last year alone we received over 800 applications.  We encourage interested and qualified students to apply.  The deadline for submission of materials is December 31, 2005.

We hope you enjoy this month’s edition of LDNews.  All of us at NCLD would like to wish you a wonderful holiday season and health and happiness for the coming New Year.

Warmest regards,

James H. Wendorf
Executive Director, NCLD
