Letter from NCLD (LDNews March 2006)

Dear NCLD Supporters and Constituents,

This month's newsletter demonstrates how NCLD is expanding its online resources, striving to provide information that is useful for the widest possible range of individuals who are affected by learning disabilities, professionally and/or personally.  With the recent changes to our Web site, we are now able to serve parents and educators with new tools and solutions, provide easier navigation among sections of information for different grade levels, and bring our online constituents personal stories and insights from people in the LD community -- people like you!

The Research Roundup column, written by our Director of Professional Services, Dr. Sheldon Horowitz, focuses on the struggles with learning disabilities in adulthood -- a group too often overlooked. The Living with LD section on our Web site has a section devoted specifically to this audience. This month's LD Links offers important resources and links to Web sites with information for just about everyone.  You can find a sourcebook for program administrators of adult education programs, a guidebook to middle school reform, a resource on early intervention programs, information about summer camps for parents, and much more. Also be sure to click through and read the interview with Jennifer Combs, a successful teacher (and also our 2005 Bill Ellis Award recipient) who enthusiastically offers her strategies for teaching students with learning disabilities.

NCLD's expansion of online resources continues next month, when we will launch a unique new section of LD.org devoted to resources for parents.  Onward!

Warm regards,

James H. Wendorf
