Questions to Ask About Your Child's Eligibility Determination

1. Consider asking the school's representative these questions before the eligibility determination meeting in order to be prepared and ready to participate!

2. Will I be given sufficient time to review my child's evaluation report prior to the eligibility meeting?

3. If I have questions about my child's evaluation report, how will I get my questions answered prior to the eligibility meeting?

4. May I bring other individuals to the eligibility meeting with me? What is the school district’s policy regarding other non-school attendees?

5. What is the school district's current policy regarding the determination of a specific learning disability?

6. If my child is found eligible, will the school district plan to develop the initial IEP at the same meeting?

7. If my child is found not eligible, will the school district consider an evaluation for eligibility under Section 504?
