Today, Chairman Tom Harkin and Ranking Member Enzi introduced their proposed bill to reauthorize the Elementary Secondary Education Act, currently known as No Child Left Behind. In response, NCLD has co-signed a letter with several leading children’s advocacy and civil rights organizations that asks them to reconsider provisions that only focus reform on about the lowest 5% of schools. Students with learning disabilities and other disadvantaged students will get far too little attention under the current proposal. We believe Congress can do better.
