Kristy Baxter, M.A., is a member of NCLD’s Young Adult and Innovation Committees and also serves on the Executive Committee.
She began her career in 1973 teaching at the Churchill School and Center, an independent school in New York City for children with learning disabilities. She went on to serve as Churchill’s Head of School and Center from 1988–2008. During these years, she cofounded the Introduction to Independence program at New York Institute of Technology and Camp Northwood, a sleepaway camp for children with learning disabilities in Remsen, New York. Kristy is also a founding expert for Understood.org.
