Joseph Cortes

Regional Manager, Understood

Joseph Cortes is the Southern Regional Field Manager for Understood.  Based out of Atlanta, he leads efforts to raise awareness about the 1 in 5 children with learning and attention issues in communities across the South.  He works to empower parents to be the best advocate they can be for their children so they can thrive in school and in life.  His own journey living with ADHD has instilled a desire to help others get the resources they need to succeed.

Joseph has worked on political campaigns, various advocacy efforts, and organized grassroots outreach programs for several non-profits in several states.  He gained a  passion for ensuring every student receives a high-quality education during some time spent on bi-partisan efforts to improve public education in Indiana and Georgia.  In 2016, Joseph served at the Grassroots Chairman for Marco Rubio’s presidential campaign in Georgia.

Joseph enjoys live music, travel, studying history, watching sports, and performs as  a tenor in the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra Chorus.  He resides with his wife Kim and two dogs in Marietta, GA.  Joseph graduated from New Mexico State University with a degree in History.
