Kristen Lange

Senior Director of Special Projects

Kristen Lange is the Senior Director of Special Projects for the National Center for Learning Disabilities. Kristen works with the CEO to accelerate NCLD’s progress through strategic planning, supporting the NCLD mission and values, and facilitating engagement with staff, network partners, the Board of Directors, and external constituents.

Kristen has over 12 years of experience working in education. Before joining NCLD, Kristen was part of the New York City Department of Education, where she worked in a variety of roles serving as the Senior Director of Strategic Initiatives in the Office of Leadership as well as the Chief of Staff to the Chief Academic Officer for Leadership. In these roles, Kristen managed the Wallace Foundation Principal Pipeline Initiative $12.5 million grant, developed and oversaw the research policies for leadership, led all internal and external communications, and supported the expansion of the office from ten to 140 employees. During her tenure with the NYCDOE, Kristen also served in other capacities where she worked to revise teacher tenure policies, pilot and roll out a new teacher evaluation system, and build a leadership pipeline of career ladder opportunities for 70,000 teachers, 4,000 assistant principals, and 1,800 principals in New York City. Prior to that, Kristen was an elementary school special education teacher in Phoenix, Arizona and a high school special education teacher in Rockville, Maryland.

Kristen holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education and Special Education from Bloomsburg University and Master’s Degree in Public Administration (MPA) from Arizona State University. Kristen lives in Long Island City with her fiance and two dogs. In her free time she enjoys reading, trying new restaurants, and traveling.
