Director of Communications

Cierra Mangal serves as the Director of Communications at the National Center for Learning Disabilities. In her role, she spearheads strategies to reshape narratives surrounding learning disabilities and attention issues, aiming to transform mindsets and practices within the education system and beyond. With extensive experience in managing large-scale integrated campaigns, executive positioning, and storytelling, Cierra excels in the realms of marketing and public relations. She also brings a strong background of operational effectiveness and diversity and inclusion programming to the organization.

Before joining NCLD, she held notable leadership positions in marketing and public relations. As the director of marketing at Lambert & Co., she led marketing strategies for the firm and its family of companies, including serving as vice president of social impact for its philanthropy arm. Prior to that, she served as the head of public relations at Ghafari Associates, where she successfully executed media relations strategies, a corporate social responsibility program, content and brand development, and expert positioning for the global architecture and engineering firm. Cierra also boasts experience in marketing initiatives, having previously worked as a senior marketing coordinator and project manager at a prominent advertising agency in metro Detroit. Her expertise significantly contributes to NCLD’s efforts in raising awareness and enhancing the lives of individuals with learning disabilities and attention issues.

Committed to the values of inclusivity and diversity, Cierra passionately advocates for a more unified and equitable future for generations to come. Drawing from both her professional and personal experiences, she initiates crucial conversations, reshapes attitudes, and influences culture.

Cierra holds a Bachelor of Applied Arts Degree in Integrative Public Relations, with a minor in Journalism, from Central Michigan University. Her contributions to the fields of marketing, public relations, and diversity and inclusion have earned widespread recognition. Central Michigan University acknowledged her achievements in her career, mentorship, and activism by naming her a “10 within 10” honoree for the Class of 2021. She also serves as the Chair of the Detroit Outreach Task Force at the university, showcasing her dedication to making a positive impact in her community. In 2021, Cierra received the inaugural Young Champion award from the Diversity Action Alliance, further underscoring her commitment to diversity and inclusion. Additionally, she was a finalist for the DE&I Professional of the Year by Ragan Communications in the same year. These accolades aptly reflect Cierra’s exceptional leadership skills and her unwavering dedication to creating a more equitable and inclusive future.
