Research Associate

Shayna is a dedicated Research Associate with the National Center for Learning Disabilities, bringing a diverse set of skills and experiences from the higher education, public education, and nonprofit sectors. Her expertise spans policy analysis, program evaluation, grant management, education and disability research, and project management. Throughout her career, Shayna has held various important roles, including working as a case worker for students with learning disabilities, an educational research fellow, a research coordinator, and an exam accommodations administrator.

Shayna’s educational background is equally impressive, having earned both a bachelor’s and master’s degree in social work from Florida State University. In addition, she holds a graduate certificate in project management. Her studies focused on macro policy and community initiatives, and her research has centered on the mental and emotional well-being of students with learning disabilities. Shayna’s work has consistently centered on improving and equalizing access for individuals with disabilities throughout their lifespan, reflecting her deep commitment to supporting and advocating for the rights of those with learning disabilities.

Outside of her professional pursuits, Shayna enjoys exploring her passions and interests. She takes cooking classes with her husband, indulges in reading numerous books, and channels her love for music by singing in her community choir. These pursuits reflect her well-rounded nature and dedication to personal growth and enrichment.

Shayna’s diverse skill set, comprehensive experience, and genuine dedication to improving the lives of individuals with learning disabilities make her an invaluable member of the NCLD team. Her work contributes significantly to the organization’s mission of creating equal opportunities and support for those with learning disabilities and attention issues.
